How to delete whatsapp messages

WhatsApp is seen testing a number of features to enhance the overall user experience. The latest feature, which can soon make its entry on the popular messaging app, could prove helpful in managing WhatsApp group chats. The latest beta version of WhatsApp for Android has a feature, albeit hidden, which gives group admins control over message deletion.

WhatsApp Group Admins to Have More Power

As per WaBetaInfo, WhatsApp is testing a new feature for Android beta version 2.22.1.1. This feature will let group admins delete messages even if they are from other group members. This means that the admin of any WhatsApp group can delete any message if they are required to do so.

When a group admin will delete a message, WhatsApp will leave an indicator reading, “This was removed by an admin“, so that other members can know who deleted the message.

How to delete whatsapp messages

This feature will be in addition to a number of functions only group admins can perform. This includes the ability to add/ remove people on a group, select people who can send messages to the group, edit group info, edit group admin info, and more. However, there’s no word on when this feature will reach the general users on both Android and iOS.

For those who don’t know, WhatsApp is also rumored to introduce an extended timeline on deleted messages. With this, users will be able to delete sent messages for all even after 7 days and 8 minutes. The current limit is 1 hour, 8 minutes, 16 seconds. Earlier, WhatsApp was speculated to remove any restriction on message deletion but it seems like that’s no more the plan.

In addition to this, WhatsApp is also testing a new privacy feature, which will refrain unknown people from looking at users Last Seen or Status Updates. This will be done by changing the Last Seen and Status settings to My Contacts by default. This will also restrict third-party apps from keeping an eye on users’ activities.

What’s your take on the new expected WhatsApp features? Should admins have this much control over the group messages? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

The “Delete For Everyone” feature in WhatsApp allows you to Recall or Delete Messages that you have already sent on WhatsApp. Let us take a look at how to use “Delete For Everyone” feature to Delete Sent Messages in WhatsApp.

Delete Sent Messages in WhatsApp

It happens to most of us, sometimes we send a Message on WhatsApp and immediately start thinking whether or not it was proper to send such a Message.

Luckily, “Delete for Everyone” feature in WhatsApp allows you to get out of this situation by allowing you to Delete Messages in WhatsApp, even after they have been sent.

This feature is also useful in case you end up sending a Message to the wrong Chat, post a somewhat personal Message in a Group Chat or you want to correct mistakes in a Sent WhatsApp Message.

According to WhatsApp, this feature only works if you take the steps to Delete Sent Messages in WhatsApp within 7 minutes of sending them. Once the Sent Message is successfully deleted, your original sent Message will be replaced with “This Message was deleted” in the recipients Chats.

Follow the steps below to Recall or Delete Sent Messages in WhatsApp on your Android Phone

1. Open WhatsApp on your Android Phone (in case it is already not open)

Once the selected Message is successfully Deleted For Everyone, the sent message will be replaced with “You deleted this Message” on your screen.

As mentioned above, this feature will only work if you take the necessary steps to Recall Sent Messages in WhatsApp within 7 minutes of sending them. There is no way to Delete or Recall Sent WhatsApp Messages once the initial 7 minutes have passed.

Also, this feature will only work if the other person or other recipients are using the latest version of WhatsApp (2.17.71 for iOS and 2.17.393 for Android devices).

In cases where any of the recipients are using an older version of WhatsApp, they might be able to see the Message before it was deleted.

Delete For Me in WhatsApp

In addition to “Delete for Everyone” that we covered above, WhatsApp provides another option to delete Messages know as “Delete for Me.”

As you can guess from its name, this option only deletes Messages from your Chat screen and has no impact on the Recipients Chats.

To confirm, deleting WhatsApp Messages using “Delete For Me” has no effect on the Chats of your Recipients. They will continue to see your Messages, even after you have deleted them on your device using “Delete For Me” option.

WhatsApp is testing a new feature that will give more power to group admins. While WhatsApp has long supported the ability to delete messages in chats, it currently doesn’t allow admins to remove messages sent by group members. But that can be changing soon.

As spotted by WABetainfo, the Meta-owned instant messaging app is testing a new change that may finally enable admins to delete messages for everyone in groups. What this means is that if you’re moderating a WhatsApp group, you’ll be able to remove unwanted or inappropriate messages sent by group members.

📝 WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.1.1: what’s new?

WhatsApp is working on the ability to delete any message in groups for everyone if you’re a group admin, in a future update! 🤯https://t.co/oI7fUiJiI3

— WABetaInfo (@WABetaInfo) December 13, 2021

When a message is removed, WhatsApp will indicate that “This was deleted by an admin” and will also display who deleted the message.

How to delete whatsapp messages

As WABetoinfo notes, this feature is still a work in progress and isn’t accessible to end-users. We don’t know when WhatsApp plans to roll it out to everyone. Provided WhatsApp doesn’t scrap it, the feature will most likely first arrive on WhatsApp beta before making its way to the stable channel.

The ability to delete messages for everyone comes after we learned last month that WhatsApp was considering to remove the time limit for deleting messages. Currently, WhatsApp users have 4,096 seconds (68 minutes and 16 seconds) to delete a message after it was sent. But it looks in the future WhatsApp may let you delete any message you sent at any point in history.

WhatsApp has picked up several new features and improvements over the past few weeks. Last month, the instant messaging app received regulatory approval to expand WhatsApp Pay, a UPI-powered payment service, to 40 million users in India. Then this month the app gained new Disappearing Messages options, Novi wallet integration for payments in the US, the ability to preview voice messages, and more.

How to delete whatsapp messages

WhatsApp introduced the ability to send disappearing messages last year for people to choose the chats they don’t want to keep. With an aim to further extend this feature’s capabilities, the Meta-owned messaging app now lets you set the disappearing messages option as the default. Not just that, you can even choose multiple durations for this feature, extending up to 90 days.

New WhatsApp Disappearing Message Features Added

With the Default Disappearing Messages feature, all your new chats on WhatsApp will be set to disappearing mode by default. Whenever you chat with a person for the first time, the messages will vanish after a set time. This is applicable for new group chats as well. While creating a new group, you will get an option to switch on the disappearing messages mode.

When the disappearing messages mode is on by default, WhatsApp will display a message on each chat, indicating that the option is chosen as a default setting. It is to clarify that the feature is your choice and not a forced setting by the app.

One thing to note is that this is optional and you can always turn it off. Plus, you can also decide to select the people you want to send disappearing messages to. If you want to keep their chats intact, you can always disable the feature via each chat’s settings. To recall, you can enable or disable this feature by heading to any chat of your choice -> tapping on the person’s name -> selecting the “Disappearing messages” option.

How to delete whatsapp messages

In addition to this, two new duration options for disappearing messages have been added. You can now select the duration of 24 hours and 90 days. That means the messages will disappear either after 24 hours or 90 days, depending upon the choice you make. These two options are in addition to the existing option of 7 days in WhatsApp.

To enable the disappearing messages feature by default, head over to Settings -> Account -> Privacy -> Default message timer and choose your duration.

How to delete whatsapp messages

  • It is revealed that this mode isn’t for older messages.
  • If you do not open the disappearing message after the set time duration, it will automatically vanish, although, it might stay in the notification panel if not removed.
  • Forwarding a disappearing message (if the mode is disabled on your phone), won’t delete the WhatsApp message.
  • If a disappearing message is backed up before it vanishes, the backup will stay.
  • When a disappearing message is quoted, the quote will also stay within the chat.

The new features have now started rolling out to Android users, but there’s a ton of privacy limitations, as you can see above. We couldn’t get hold of the features on iOS but maybe because they will eventually reach all users. Do you have access to the new WhatsApp features? Let us know your experience in the comments below.

This feature is an extension of the existing ‘Delete for Everyone’ feature that WhatsApp had introduced back in 2017.

How to delete whatsapp messagesWhatsApp is said to be testing a couple of features

WhatsApp is said to be testing a couple of features including a new in-app camera interface and allowing group administrators permission to delete specific messages for everyone.

As for the new camera interface, it will be available for Android users only. The camera will change the position of the Flash shortcut and redesign Switch Camera button. According to WhatsApp beta software tracker WABetaInfo, the WhatsApp for Android beta 2.22.1.2 update will add a circular shade to the Switch Camera button and users will be shown recent photos from the bottom left corner while sending or uploading an image. The new experience is not yet live for beta testers but is said to be a part of internal testing.

Meanwhile, WhatsApp group administrators may soon be able to delete specific messages for all group members to filter misinformation and spam common in regular groups despite long debates and criticism on the same. This feature is an extension of the existing ‘Delete for Everyone’ feature that WhatsApp had introduced back in 2017.

The members will see a notice “This was removed by an admin” after a specific message is deleted by a group admin.

Features like ability to restrict members from sending messages to their groups and prevent members from making any unwanted group information edits and with the new feature members will be restricted from fake news even more.

There is no update on when these features will be live. Also, since reports are from internal testing users might see some changes in the interface when it is provided to the Android users. As for enhanced deletion features, according to WABetaInfo and WhatsApp for Android beta 2.22.1.1, the feature is coming at least to beta testers sometime early next year.

WhatsApp has released a bunch of new features on its platform lately. The Meta-owned messaging app, earlier this week, released a feature that enables users to preview a voice message before sending it. Users can either send the voice message after previewing it, or they can delete the voice message to record it again. In addition to this, the company also gave users more control over disappearing messages by introducing multiple timelines as to when a message will vanish. Now, fresh reports suggest that the messaging app is working on a feature that will enable group admins to delete messages for everyone. Also Read – WhatsApp groups to get even bigger? New ‘community’ feature spotted again

WABetaInfo reports that WhatsApp has released a new update on its Android beta app. This new version gives the group admins the ability to delete messages for all members in a group. As of now, only the sender of a message can delete a message. Now, the company is working on giving group admins greater control over the conversations that happen within their groups. Also Read – Want to check your account balance? Here’s how you can do it via WhatsApp

As of now, WhatsApp shows the message – [Name of the sender] deleted this message – when the sender of a message deletes it in a group. Similarly, when a message is deleted by the group admin, WhatsApp will show the message – This was removed by an admin – in the group. In addition to this, the company is also working on making improvements to the in-app camera feature. Firstly, the company is making changes to the Flash and Switch Camera buttons. As of now, the Switch Camera button shows a camera with reversible arrows. Now, the company is planning to put this icon inside a circular bubble, much like the camera, Payments, Documents, Location and Contact icons within the app. In addition to that, the company is also removing the carousel that shows images from the phone gallery just above the Capture and Switch Camera buttons.

Lastly, the company is adding new emojis to its Universal Windows Platform app. These emojis are a part of the UWP 2.2148.3.7 update. The list includes multi-skin emojis and burning heart emojis among others.

As far as the availability is concerned, there is no word on when these features will be available in WhatsApp.

WhatsApp appears to be giving more power to group admins to limit fake news circulation

  • WhatsApp is found to be working on a new in-app camera interface
  • It changes the position of the Flash shortcut
  • WhatsApp may extend ‘Delete for Everyone’ to group admins

WhatsApp has been spotted testing a new in-app camera interface for Android devices. It appears to change the position of the Flash shortcut and redesign the Switch Camera button. Separately, WhatsApp is found to be testing the ability to let group administrators delete any specific messages for everyone in the group. This appears to help give group admins more power to limit spam and misinformation that is quite common among regular WhatsApp groups despite years long debates and strong criticism.

As reported by WhatsApp beta tracker WABetaInfo, WhatsApp for Android beta 2.22.1.2 has been released that carries references about the redesigned in-app camera. The new experience is not yet live for beta testers, though it is suggested to be a part of an internal testing.

WABetaInfo has shared a screenshot to suggest the redesigned camera on WhatsApp. It brings the Flash shortcut to the top-right corner from the bottom left and adds a circular shade to the Switch Camera button. In place of the Flash shortcut, the new in-app camera interface gives access to your recent photos from the bottom-left corner.

Exact details on when exactly we could see the updated camera on WhatsApp are yet to be revealed. Also, since the reported information is from the internal testing, we may see some changes in the interface that will finally be provided to the general public.

In addition to the new camera experience, WABetaInfo has separately informed that WhatsApp is testing the ability to allow group admins to delete messages in their groups for all members. This seems to be an extension of the existing ‘Delete for Everyone’ feature that WhatsApp had introduced back in 2017.

WhatsApp does allow users to delete their messages in individual chats as well as groups for everyone using the Delete for Everyone feature. However, it has not yet enabled group admins to use the feature to delete messages sent by the members of their groups for everyone.

A screenshot shared by WABetaInfo shows that the members will see a notice on the messages deleted by group admins that reads, “This was removed by an admin.”

The addition would essentially help group admins remove messages circulating fake news and misinformation for all members in their groups.

Group admins on WhatsApp already have features including the ability to restrict members from sending messages to their groups and prevent members from make any unwanted group information edits.

WhatsApp has not yet provided any details about when we could see the update pertaining to group admins. Nevertheless, WABetaInfo has mentioned that its indication was found in WhatsApp for Android beta 2.22.1.1. This suggests that we could see the enhanced deletion feature for group admins coming at least to beta testers sometime early next year.

The new WhatsApp feature will give admins of a group the power like moderators has in several other group chat applications. Read more details here.

How to delete whatsapp messages

WhatsApp is working on a feature that will provide admins with more control over the activities in a WhatsApp group. As and when the new feature comes out through a stable WhatsApp update for iOS and Android, it will enable WhatsApp group admins to delete messages sent on a group by participants. Keep reading to know more about the WhatsApp new feature and how will it work.

The feature was spotted by WABetaInfo. The website has also released a screenshot of the feature, which shows the following prompt on a deleted message “This was removed by an admin.” The screenshot gives the user an idea about how the admin control features in WhatsApp. Currently, the Meta-owned instant messaging platform WhatsApp users have the option of deleting a message sent by them to both personal and group chats. Along with the new feature, admins of a group will be able to delete a message sent by anyone in a group.

How will the new WhatsApp admin feature work?

The new WhatsApp feature will give admins of a group the power like moderators has in several other group chat applications. A WhatsApp admin can already add a new person to a group and remove anyone from a WhatsApp group. Additionally, the admin can also change the status of a group from admin only messaging to participants. The feature will be highly useful for professional WhatsApp groups, where the admins will be able to remove an inappropriate message sent by a participant. There if no official release time of the new WhatsApp features yet.

How to delete whatsapp messages

Most recently, WhatsApp has also rolled out a new feature called the Skin Tone combinations for Android devices, Additionally, WhatsApp for Desktop and WhatsApp Web now lets users make custom stickers. The ability has been released for WhatsApp Web and will be available on WhatsApp for Desktop in the coming days. Users across the world use WhatsApp Stickers to convey their emotions or sentiment on a topic of conversation.

After launching custom stickers for the web, Whatsapp is testing a new feature to forward stickers on its instant messaging platform. The shortcut will allow users to quickly forward a WhatsApp sticker to some other contact without the need to view or save the sticker. While the new feature is currently available to WhatsApp Beta users on Android, it might be launched soon for regular users. Stay tuned for more technology news.

WhatsApp is frequently adding new features to its platform. But it’s fair to say that the app is usually late to bring some features compared to services like Signal and Telegram. We’re now learning of an important update to WhatsApp that could allow group admins or moderators to delete messages sent by members.

In its current form, WhatsApp only allows the people who posted the original message to delete them. WABetaInfo reveals that the new inclusion is part of WhatsApp beta 2.22.1.1 (via). This could help keep groups free from spam or inappropriate messages.

If you want to stop people from adding you to WhatsApp groups, we recommend checking out this detailed explainer.

One of the primary concerns with larger WhatsApp groups is that members can send anything they want, with the admins having zero control over it. The only remedy right now is to remove the individuals from the group, thus restricting them from sending any messages in the future. With this in mind, this new feature could enhance the experience of millions on WhatsApp, particularly group admins.

The feature is currently in the testing phase, with no clarity on a wider rollout

WhatsApp will display a message reading “This was deleted by an admin” whenever a moderator deletes a group member’s message. This feature also has the advantage of moderating content on the group without removing the individuals.

We must note that the feature is in testing right now, so it’s not quite ready for a wider rollout. But if everything goes according to plan, the feature should arrive on the stable channel not too long from now.

This is one of the several features currently being tested by the messaging client. A recent report talked about new privacy additions coming to WhatsApp that bars unknown contacts from viewing the “last seen” or online status of users. The company later said that the feature was implemented to “improve the privacy and security” of WhatsApp customers.

Separately, WhatsApp beta got the ability to hide last seen from selected individuals via the “My Contacts Except…” setting under Privacy options.

How to delete whatsapp messages

WhatsApp has updated its web app with a built-in custom Sticker Maker that lets users choose images from their computers and convert them into stickers that can be sent through WhatsApp.

How to use the feature?

To access this feature, you need to make sure you are using the latest version of Whatsapp on the web.

  • Now, click the paperclip icon (attachments) right next to the emoji icon.
  • Select the Sticker option that’s right in between Photos & Videos and Camera.
  • Now select an image to upload. Once uploaded, you can crop and edit the image using various options, including emoji, sticker, text, and paint options.

Extending time limit

In other news, WhatsApp is planning to extend the time limit to delete a message. Currently, a user can delete the message for everyone in a conversation within 1 hour, 8 minutes, 16 seconds. With the future update, Whatsapp plans to change the time limit to seven days and eight minutes (7 days and 8 minutes). Additionally, WhatsApp is working on bringing playback speed control feature (up to 2x) for forwarded voice messages, and it has been spotted on the iOS Beta app.

Deleting messages on Facebook is not as easy as deleting your email, as Facebook intends to keep your conversation history in Messages and Facebook Chat intact.

To delete messages on Facebook, you will need to open the individual message, go to options and start selecting the message you want to delete.

If you have many messages, the process can be very time-consuming. Otherwise, you can simply remove the messages from the message list, but doing this will not remove the message permanently. Instead, it will be archived and will reappear when the person sends you a new message.

Here’s where we bring in some help i.e. ‘Facebook Fast Delete Messages‘, an extension for your Chrome browser that will allow you to delete Facebook messages with a single click.

You can open your Facebook messages and you can select to send your messages to ‘Archive’, one by one.

However, the message you delete will not be removed permanently; it will reappear when the person sends you new messages.

To delete individual messages, you need to open each message first. Do this by clicking on the Actions button and select Delete Messages.

You will see all your messages with this friend, with checkboxes on the side of each message.

Select the messages you want to delete by ‘checking’ the box next to the message, or simply click on the Delete all button.

Delete Facebook Messages, in bulk

To take control of your Facebook messages, go to the Facebook Fast Delete Messages extension page with your Chrome browser and click the Add to Chrome button to install.

Once installed, the extension is activated automatically. Now to delete your Facebook messages with only one click without having to open the individual conversation pages, you simply have to do the following steps:

  1. Click on “Open Messages”
  2. Click on Delete all messages”

And that’s it. All of the messages on Facebook Messenger will be deleted at once without having to do it one-by-one.

Disappearing Messages is an optional feature you can turn on for more privacy.

When you enable Disappearing Messages, you can set messages to disappear 24 hours, 7 days, or 90 days after the time they are sent. The most recent selection only controls new messages in the chat. This setting won’t affect messages you previously sent or received in the chat. In an individual chat, either user can turn disappearing messages on or off. In a group chat, any group participants can turn disappearing messages on or off. However, a group admin can change group settings to allow only admins to turn disappearing messages on or off.

  • If a user doesn’t open WhatsApp in the 24 hour, 7 day, or 90 day period, the message will disappear from the chat. However, the preview of the message might still be displayed in notifications until WhatsApp is opened.
  • When you reply to a message, the initial message is quoted. If you reply to a disappearing message, the quoted text might remain in the chat after the duration you select.
  • If a disappearing message is forwarded to a chat with disappearing messages off, the message won’t disappear in the forwarded chat.
  • If a user creates a backup before a message disappears, the disappearing message will be included in the backup. Disappearing messages will be deleted when a user restores from a backup.

Note: Only use disappearing messages with trusted individuals. For example, it's possible for someone to:

  • Forward or take a screenshot of a disappearing message and save it before it disappears.
  • Copy and save content from the disappearing message before it disappears.
  • Take a photo of a disappearing message with a camera or other device before it disappears.

Disappearing messages for your account

You can turn on disappearing messages by default for all new individual chats.

Currently, WhatsApp users only have the option of deleting the message once sent after one hour, eight minutes and sixteen seconds.

  • WhatsApp is planning to extend the time limit of the ‘Delete Message for Everyone’ feature.

It was reported a long time ago that WhatsApp is planning to extend the time limit of the ‘Delete Message for Everyone’ feature. Now, the messaging app has been spotted testing different time limits for the feature. Currently, users only have the option of deleting the message once sent after one hour, eight minutes and sixteen seconds. However, things will soon take a different turn as WhatsApp users may get to delete their messages for everyone, seven days after sending them.

Delete for Everyone feature is a useful tool, which helps you in deleting a message you have wrongly sent to a person. However, there are limitations as you can only delete the message upto one hour of sending it. If you miss the deadline, you cannot delete the message for everyone. To make things easier for users, WhatsApp is now working on extending the time limit. The messaging app was spotted testing two different times for Delete For Everyone feature.

WhatsApp features tracker Wabetainfo has confirmed that WhatsApp is now planning to change the time limit to 7 days and 8 minutes in a future update. Previously, it was also being speculated that WhatsApp will do away with the time limit bit and keep the option open for users to delete messages for everyone even after hours, days, years of sending them. But now WhatsApp is planning to modify the current time limit at a later date.

The WhatsApp tipster reports that the feature is still under development, so WhatsApp might change its plan again or introduce a new time limit. Only a final rollout can confirm whether WhatsApp will completely remove restrictions to delete a message or modify the time limit at a later date. This could be upto 7 days or more.

On a related note, WhatsApp was also spotted testing new playback options for audio messages. WhatsApp was found testing the possibility to rush through the forwarded voice messages. The voice notes can be speed up up to 7 2X.

WhatsApp already offers last seen feature with three options – everyone, nobody and my contacts. As per reports, the instant messaging platform is working on another option that will allow users to hide last seen from specific people. Similar to WhatsApp status, the feature will allow users to hide last seen from one or more contacts. WhatsApp hasn’t revealed any details about the release of the feature.

WhatsApp is expected to make a couple of changes to the app in the near future. Firstly, it might tweak the camera UI of the app and secondly, it is expected to soon allow group admins to delete messages for everyone on the group. This feature is an extension of the “Delete for everyone” feature that allows the sender to delete their messages on the group. A report by WABetaInfo reveals that these features were spotted on WhatsApp for Android beta 2.22.1.2. Wondering if you can make your sent WhatsApp messages disappear? It’s a common question people have – and a common feature request. And since it’s so common, WhatsApp listened to its users and last year added the ability for them to set their sent messages to automatically delete after a set period of time.

But today, WhatsApp announced an expansion to disappearing messages on iPhone and Android, broadening their use.

In a blog post announcing the expanded feature, WhatsApp said:

“WhatsApp users will now have the option to turn on disappearing messages by default for all new chats. When enabled, all new one-on-one chats you or another person start will be set to disappear at your chosen duration, and we’ve added a new option when creating a group chat that lets you turn it on for groups you create. This new feature is optional and does not change or delete any of your existing chats.”

But just what are disappearing messages and why would you want to enable them? Read on…

What Are Disappearing WhatsApp Messages?

Disappearing WhatsApp messages are just what they sound like – messages you send to someone that then disappear. This includes text messages and picture messages. The message you send will stick around in the receiver’s chat for a set time after you send it, and after that, the message disappears from the chat.

Why Would You Want Your Messages To Disappear?

Lots of people joke that if you are so secretive about your messages that you want to make them disappear you must be up to something shady or illegal – such as dealing drugs.

But that rationale is both immature and tiring. People want some of the messages they’ve sent after the receiver has read them for privacy reasons. After all, we send a lot of personal information to each other in text messages.

Oftentimes, partners might send sensitive financial information to their significant other, such as website login details or credit card numbers or pins – or maybe even the security code to their home security system.

These aren’t messages you want to stick around in case someone else gets a hold of their phone. Disappearing messages allow you to send important data, and ensures it only exists for a certain amount of time – enough for the recipient to act on.

Begin by opening Messages.

If you were in a conversation when you last used the app, you'll return to that. In that case, tap the back arrow (or the Messages button, depending on what version of iOS you're running) in the top left corner to go to the list of conversations.

What to Do if Deleted Texts Keep Appearing on iPhone

In some cases, texts that you've deleted can still be found on your phone. This may not be a big deal, but it can definitely be a problem if you're trying to keep some information private.

If you’re running into this problem, or want to know how to avoid it, check out Deleted Messages Still Showing Up? Do This.

Facebook does not allow users to delete multiple messages at once. You have to select each message on Facebook or Messenger and delete them one by one in order to get rid of tons of messages.

Even if you are using a mobile device then there is no such option to select multiple messages on the messenger app and you won’t be able to delete them. You can delete them one by one from the chat options.

But there was an option to delete multiple messages on the older version of Facebook. But Facebook took away this feature and users find it really annoying to go through each message and delete them.

Over time, you may have sent tons of messages or message requests to different people but sometimes you may find it embarrassing when you look through old conversations.

You may want to delete older messages to clean your inbox. Or want to avoid any trouble with your partner who wants to check on your messages.

There may be tons of reasons to do so, now let’s find how you can do it.

How To Delete Multiple Facebook Messages / Conversations

To delete multiple messages you need to log in to Facebook on a computer and need to have Google Chrome browser so that you can install chrome extensions. This trick does not work on a smartphone or messenger app.

You may find many Google Chrome extensions claiming to delete multiple or all Facebook messages but I have tested more than 20 such extensions but only 2 of them worked.

Earlier Chrome extensions like “Delete All Messages for Facebook™” used to work but Facebook has updated its platform and most of the extensions couldn’t find a way to work as usual.

There are tons of outdated articles and YouTube videos available on the Internet, but this trick is working as if now.

Follow these steps-

1. Open Google Chrome and log in to Facebook.

3. Log in to Facebook and open messages, not the messenger.

Or directly open messages using this link.

4. Go to Chrome toolbars and click on the extension icon. Or if it is not available on the main toolbar then click on the extensions option and you will get it listed there.

5. Once you click on “Multiple tools for Facebook” it will redirect to another internal page of the extension. There you will find tons of options, this tool has many other useful features for Facebook as well.

How to delete whatsapp messages

6. On the left side Click on Tools then “Message Downloader” from the list of options. It will fetch all of your Facebook conversations with the name of your Facebook friends their Facebook ID their active status and checkboxes to select the conversations.

7. Select the conversation you want to delete and then click on the “Delete” option. You can also download the conversations if you want.

How to delete whatsapp messages

It will load 10 conversations by default, if you want to delete more conversations then select more rows or all rows.

You can also delete all Facebook messages at once by loading All row, select all conversations, and click on delete.

This extension will help you to delete all the conversations with your Facebook friends for free, but if you want to delete messages from non-friends then you have to buy the premium features for at least $10.

Messenger Message Cleaner Extension

This is another Google Chrome extension that is working now, you can download it from Google Webstore and add it to Chrome.

1. Download Messenger Message Cleaner and it will add an icon to the Google Chrome toolbar.

2. Log in to Facebook and click on the extension’s icon.

3. It will redirect you to the mobile basic version of Facebook, now click on the icon again to get the options.

4. It will show you options to select messages and delete the conversations.

You can delete a maximum of 5 conversations at once without registering for a free trial. And Free trial offers to delete 10 conversations at once, but you have to buy their premium plans to get full access.

How to delete whatsapp messages

It did a great job deleting the conversations quickly but paying for such services is not advisable. If you have little time then you can go through each message and delete them manually.

Overall, both extensions are able to delete Facebook messages when others failed. The first one did a great job since it allows you to delete all messages from friends. Additionally, it has many other useful features for Facebook users.

The second extension is good if you don’t mind spending some money on a one-time service, otherwise, I won’t recommend it.

If you have deleted some important messages by mistake then you can try to restore the deleted messages.
