7 Best Discord Server Templates
In this section, I’ve shortlisted 7 of the best Discord server templates that you can use for your Discord server.
These templates are chosen based on simplicity, aesthetics, emojis, and uniqueness.
Simplicity is important as you don’t want your server to be too cluttered.
Discord app is used mainly in the gaming environment to let players communicate with other players across the world online. The users can quickly enter the group chat from their system to access the other players and discuss the game rules, winning strategy and other details about the game.
This conversation actually happens within the servers with a split of two channels namely the text and the voice. You can find the server list on the left side of the discord app. This app can be accessed on Android, iOS, Linux, Mac and Windows operating system.
However, to access discord, use the server, and chat using the app has a set of rules to be followed. In the gambling fraternity there needs to be a set of ethics followed and hence these rules are set. In case you want to provide discord app in your gaming sites, then you need to know the rules. Circulate the rules to the users and make sure you follow the guidelines to use discord services without disconnection.

Also, we have provided details about what are they and how to use them. We have also listed some suggestions to help your frame additional rules based on the country you provide gaming etc.

In 2021, Discord has given boosted servers the ability to add custom server banners, server invite backgrounds, and most recently, 300 Stickers became available to all Nitro users and custom Stickers became available to all servers boosted to Level 1. That means your server needs only 2 server boosts, or the default number given to a single user with Discord Nitro.
I’ll go over everything there is to know about the new Stickers feature on Discord, plus I’ll show you how to make your own Discord Stickers, a feature recently released to all Level 1 servers. Here’s what you should know:
- What are Discord Stickers?
- How to use Discord Stickers
- How to make your own Stickers
NOTE: Use this 320×320 pixel PNG Discord Sticker template to create your own custom Discord sticker now.
1. What Are Discord Stickers?
Discord Stickers are yet another way to participate in Discord channels and conversations, providing hundreds of unique character-based, transparent assets, both animated and still. They come in 12 built-in sticker packs for Nitro users only, each with a different animated character, from Discord’s own Wumpus mascot to a melting chihuahua. Each pack contains at least 15 different stickers, for a total of 300 to start with.
You can also add your own stickers if you already have the ability to add custom server emotes (likely Moderator or Admin roles) in a server that has been boosted to Level 1. As long as your server is boosted to Level 1, you don’t need Nitro to add custom stickers, and your server starts with a limit of 15 custom stickers. These stickers can be used by anyone in your server, whether or not they have Nitro. The files have very precise requirements:
2. How to Use Discord Stickers
For users in a Level 1-boosted server, Stickers are located in between the GIF and emoji buttons in the bottom right of the Discord window. If you have Discord Nitro, you’ll have 12 built-in sticker packs with 300 different stickers already available, but if you’re a free user, you’ll be able to use only the custom stickers that have been added by the server’s Mods and Admins. Plus, Nitro users will also be able to use custom stickers in all of their servers, while free users can only use them in their original server.
When you select a sticker, it’s immediately posted to the channel or chat you’re in. Clicking on a sticker message will bring users directly to that sticker pack, if they have it unlocked. If users don’t have Discord Nitro, they’ll still see all stickers posted in channels and conversations, but they won’t be able to use the starter sticker packs.
Here’s how Discord Stickers look compared to Discord emoji when pasted in a channel or DM.
3. How to Make Your Own Stickers
The most exciting part about the Discord stickers release is the creative opportunity it provides. Anyone with emoji permissions in a server boosted to Level 1 is able to create and add custom stickers to the server, with a limit of 15 per server at Level 1. These can be used by anyone in the server, whether or not they have Discord Nitro.
Since the requirements for Discord stickers are so precise, I recommend making your stickers in the Kapwing Studio. Open the 320×320 pixel transparent Discord Sticker template to get started with the precise dimensions and file type required for custom Discord stickers. Here, start with an image you already have access to, either on your device or online, or create a blank canvas to start from scratch.
Now, make any edits you need. You can add text with custom font, color, outline, style, and drop shadow, erase your picture to remove any part of it, crop, resize, and rotate your image, add visual filters, and import any image from Kapwing’s image search and stock photo Plugins. Once you’re finished creating your sticker, select Export, then Download to save it straight to your files, where it will almost certainly take up less than the 500KB limit.
Now, open Discord using either your browser or Discord desktop app – at the moment, you’re not able to add stickers using the Discord mobile app. Go to a Level 1 server where you have permission to add emojis and enter your server settings. Here, select Stickers directly below Emoji and click Upload Sticker.
Select Browse and find the file you downloaded from Kapwing. On this page, you’ll also need to add a name for your sticker and choose an emoji for it to be associated with, allowing them to be searchable when users look for stickers to use. You can also add a text description for your sticker for the accessibility of people who use screen readers.
Double check that everything looks right, especially the file you selected, since this can’t be edited after you create your sticker. Then, click the Upload button and your sticker is ready to be used by anyone in your Discord server!
I hope this article helps you get started with Discord’s Stickers feature! For more tips and tutorials on content creation in 2021, check out the Kapwing YouTube channel or take a look at some related articles on creating great content for Discord:

Want Discord Server Templates?
If you're looking for some cool Discord server templates, you've come to the right place! In this article, we're going to take a look at various free templates you can use to create your own Discord server, complete with permissions, channels, and so much more.
Server templates are effectively blueprints of Discord servers and can be used many times by others to create their own servers.
Let's get started!
1. Streamer or Community Server Template
This template allows you to create your own community server, complete with a welcome and verification channel, voice channels for both bots and users, and so much more.
It's also tailored towards streamers, so if you're a streamer or have your own Twitch channel and want to create a Discord community around your channel, you can do so with this template. Building a Discord server for your fans, followers and stream viewers is essential, as it'll help build your brand and allow your fans to get to know each other too, which is always great!
2. Bot Support
If you're a bot developer, like myself, it's great to set up a server where you can support users, answer their questions, and respond to feature requests. By creating a dedicated support server, your bot is likely to grow and become more popular since users are more likely to recommend your bot to their friends if they have their questions answered and are supported through the server. Great customer support goes a long way!
To help you with this, the following bot support template helps you set up your own server specifically for bot support!
3. Starter Server Template With No Frills Attached
If you're just looking for a server template without any major, overly complex bells and whistles, then this server template is for you! I can understand that some server templates may contain too many channels, complex permissions or too many bells and whistles overall, which can make the server hard to manage. If you just want a server for playing games with your friends, or just a simple server that just fulfills its purpose, then this template is great for that!
I've used this template several times when wanting to just create a simple server with the right amount of channels and permissions, just enough so I can get started quickly, but with not so many permissions that I don't know where to begin!
4. Aesthetic Server
If you want a Discord server that's quite simply put, aesthetic, then this is definitely the server template for you! It includes channel names in a variety of aesthetic fonts, and also has the usual server must-haves, including roles too, each with cute emoji and kaomoji too! For example, it features cute stars amongst other kaomoji. These are essential to any burgeoning aesthetic server, that is for sure! For examples of cute kaomoji, you may find in the channel and role names, take a look at the image below.
Of course, if you'd like to generate your own channel names using aesthetic fonts (such as the font above!), then you can learn how to create cool Discord text fonts here. The channel names featured in the template also have aesthetic kaomoji appended to them, which is a lovely touch too!
There are templates for various aesthetics too, such as the purple and soft aesthetics. These can be great if you'd like to create an amazing atmosphere in your server! If you're looking for templates that emulate various types of aesthetics, I've also written an article on some of the most aesthetic Discord server templates out there!
A Discord staff application form is used by a Discord server to recruit potential new staff members. Why Discord works as a team chat app—and why it doesn’t
Discord is similar to Slack or Microsoft Teams, but you wouldn’t know that looking at the home page. The gamepad, question block, and potion quickly make it clear that Discord is branded as a way for gamers to talk while playing—and not as a productivity tool.
I don’t like being told what to do by branding, though, so I couldn’t help but wonder: could you use Discord for work?
My definitive answer: maybe. Let’s start with the pros, then explore some potential problems.
Discord is easy to set up and basically free
Discord is really easy to set up. In a couple of minutes, you can sign up for an account, create a new server, invite your team members, and start conversing. Every server on Discord supports multiple text and audio channels, allowing you to split conversation down by team or project. You can also send direct messages (DMs). Basically, this is a chat app. Everything should feel familiar if you’ve used other chat apps.
But there’s one big difference: Discord is essentially free. Individual users can pay $10/month for Nitro, but that only really offers cosmetic upgrades like animated avatars and higher quality screen sharing. The free version of Discord is more-or-less the full version. Slack, by way of contrast, severely limits access to message archives for customers who aren’t paying. Google Chat doesn’t even offer a free version.
So that’s Discord’s biggest advantage: it’s easy to set up and free to use. This means there’s not any risk in trying it out.
Persistent audio is perfect for co-working
Discord started as an audio chat app for gamers. The idea is that you could quickly start a server, click into a voice channel, and leave Discord running in the background as you play. Being able to talk to other players out loud makes coordinating a lot easier. It also makes it feel more like you’re playing together.
But it’s not just gamers who can benefit from this kind of always-on audio. Your team could decide to leave this feature on while working, as a way to remotely co-work. Just click any voice channel in the sidebar to enable the audio—you’ll immediately be able to hear everyone else who enabled audio. That means you can quickly ask coworkers for help when you need it, or just have the occasional side conversation. It’s easy to turn a channel off when you need to focus, or to start a new channel when you want to work with a smaller group. (Just try to remember when you’ve left audio on, especially if you wear a wireless headset, because people really can hear everything. Everything.)
Some conversations are easier to have out loud. Thomas Storey, a software developer at Feathr, told me his team uses Discord to do exactly this:
We were able to prioritize voice chat over text chat, which means complex things get discussed faster rather than typing out a long message and waiting for dots to turn into a long reply.
Discord doesn’t stop at audio: just like Slack or Teams, there are also video calls and screen sharing. You can start a video call in a group DM, or you can just head to an audio channel and enable video. In my experience, the video quality is pretty good, meaning Discord could also be an alternative for apps like Zoom or Google Meet.
A major downside: no threads
Discord doesn’t offer threads, and that’s going to be a dealbreaker for large organizations. Zapier, for example, runs pretty much entirely in Slack. Threads are how we make it work.
Let me back up. In Slack, users can start a thread for any comment. This is a great way to organize channels by conversation, preventing a channel from being a mess of unrelated conversations.
Only users who comment in a thread are notified of new messages, which helps cut down on information overload. This is probably why Google Meet and Microsoft Teams both force users to speak in threads—it tames the clutter.
Discord doesn’t support threads at all. You can kind of work around this by quoting people, but it’s not the same.
This kind of disorganized, free-flowing conversation is fine in an informal context. It’s not great for getting actual work done—at least, not on a large team. It usually ends up with groups of people trying to have unrelated conversations.
For smaller teams, this likely isn’t an issue. I’ve worked for companies with around 10 active Slack users, and we never used threads. It’s an aesthetic preference at that point, and we preferred a more free-flowing conversation. Grow much past that, though, and threads become less a preference and more a necessity.
Other things to think about
There are a few other reasons Discord might not be the ideal app for work. Here’s a quick roundup.
DMs are universal, not per-server. Direct messages are Discord-wide, as opposed to being contained in your company’s server. This might make it hard to separate work from play. It also means that employees who quit will still have access to DMs with their team members.
Limited file uploads. File uploads are limited to 8 MB in the free version of Discord and 50 MB in the paid, meaning you can’t use it to upload videos or even large photos. You can work around this by linking to files on other services.
The branding and documentation is very gaming-centric. This might not seem like a big deal, granted, but things could get confusing for people who aren’t familiar with gaming culture and language.
More frequent outages. This is anecdotal, but Discord tends to go down more often than other chat apps.
Only 250 regular and 250 animated custom emoji per server. This might sound like plenty. It isn’t. Zapier’s Slack passed these numbers years ago—we have eight emoji just for my editor’s dog, for example. We couldn’t operate under these sorts of conditions.
If any of these limitations are dealbreakers, Discord isn’t for you. Consider using an alternative chat app instead. If you can live with these limitations, however, Discord might be worth a shot.
Supplement Discord’s integrations with Zapier
Apps like Slack, Google Chat, and Microsoft Teams offer official integrations with other apps, allowing you to do things like see when a new file is uploaded to Google Drive or your company is mentioned on Twitter. Discord doesn’t offer much in the way of official integrations, at least not for business-facing apps. There’s pretty much just user-created bots, most of which don’t offer any kind of support.
You can build your own Discord bot using Zapier as a sort of workaround. Or you can use Zapier connect Discord to any of the other apps you use, allowing you to build just about any Discord integration you can imagine. You could, for example, find out when there are new posts on a Twitter page or RSS feed or when a new YouTube video is posted. But you could also create more work-related workflows, like alerting you when a meeting is about to start or when a new task has been added to your project management tool.
