How To Change iPhone Snooze Time

While that’s certainly a nice bit of history to know, a 9-minute snooze may not work for everyone’s schedule. Unfortunately, Apple doesn’t allow users to adjust this. Instead, the best workaround is to set multiple alarms to create custom ‘snooze’ times. If someone sets their main alarm for 6:00 AM and wants a 5-minute snooze, they could create other alarms for 6:05, 6:10, 6:15, etc. It’d be a lot easier if Apple offered an edit snooze feature, but until then, this is the next best thing. The only other option is to disable the snooze function entirely. To do this, open the Clock app, tap on an alarm, and tap the toggle next to ‘Snooze’ so it’s disabled.

If that’s just not cutting it, another alternative is to download a third-party alarm app. There are plenty of options to choose from on the App Store, including Alarmy, Alarm Clock HD, Sleep Cycle, etc. It’s a bit hilarious iPhone owners need to download a separate app just to edit the snooze for their alarm, but such is life. In Alarmy, for example, editing the snooze is as easy as opening the app, tapping the alarm, tapping ‘Snooze,’ and choosing an option anywhere between 1 minute and 60 minutes.

Want to know the time in Beijing or Bogota? Tapping World Clock (inside the Clock app) lets you display the time in numerous cities around the globe. When the clock face is dark, it’s nighttime in the city you chose; if the face is white, it’s daytime outside.

Tap the + in the middle of the clock in the upper-right corner of the screen (the one that says “Add”) to add a new city, then use the virtual keyboard to start typing a city name.

Ever try to set the alarm in a hotel room? It’s remarkable how complicated setting an alarm can be, on even the most inexpensive clock radio. Like almost everything else, the procedure is dirt-simple on the iPad:

Tap Clock on the Home screen or Control Center to display the Clock app.

Tap the Alarm icon at the bottom of the screen.

Tap the + button in the upper-right corner of the screen.

Choose the time of the alarm by rotating the wheel in the bottom half of the screen.

This step is similar to the action required to set the time that an event starts or ends on your calendar.

Tap Save when the alarm settings are to your liking.

That’s what you can do with a regular alarm clock. What’s the big deal, you say? Well, you can do even more with your iPad alarm:

Set the alarm to go off on other days. Tap Repeat and then tell the iPad the days you want the alarm to be repeated, as in Every Monday, Every Tuesday, Every Wednesday, and so on.

Choose your own sound. Tap Sound to choose the tone that will wake you up. You can even use songs from your Music library and any custom tones stored on your iPad.

Set the snooze to sleep in. Tap Snooze on (showing green) to display a Snooze button along with the alarm. Tap the Snooze button to shut down the alarm for nine minutes.

Name your alarm. If you want to call the alarm something other than, um, Alarm, tap the Label field and use the virtual keyboard to type another descriptor.

Simple stuff, really. But if you want really simple and have anything except a second-generation iPad, you can ask Siri to set the alarm for you.

You know that an alarm has been set and activated because of the tiny status icon (surprise, surprise — it looks like a clock) that appears on the status bar in the upper-right corner of the screen.

An alarm takes precedence over any tracks you’re listening to on your iPad. Songs momentarily pause when an alarm goes off and resume when you turn off the alarm (or press the Snooze button).

When your ring/silent switch is set to Silent, your iPad still plays alarms from the Clock app. It stays silent for FaceTime calls, alert sounds, or audio from apps. But it will play alarms from the Clock app.

Although it seems obvious, if you want to actually hear an alarm, you have to make sure that the iPad volume is turned up loud enough for you to hear.

Stopwatch in the Clock app on your iPad

If you’re helping a loved one train for a marathon, the iPad Stopwatch function can provide an assist. Open it by tapping Stopwatch in the Clock app.

Just tap Start to begin the count, and then tap Stop when your trainee arrives at the finish line. You can also tap the Lap button to monitor the times of individual laps.

Timer in the Clock app

Cooking a hard-boiled egg or Thanksgiving turkey? Again, the iPad comes to the rescue. Tap Timer (in the Clock app) and then rotate the hour and minute wheels until the length of time you desire is highlighted.

Tap the Sounds button near the bottom of the screen to choose the ringtone that will signify time’s up.

After you set up the length of the timer, tap Start when you’re ready to begin. You can watch the minutes and seconds wind down on the screen, if you have nothing better to do. Or tap Pause to pause the countdown temporarily.

If you’re doing anything else on the iPad — admiring photos, say — you hear the ringtone and see a Timer Done message on the screen at the appropriate moment. Tap OK to silence the ringtone.

Once the timer ends your iPhone will automatically stop playing whatever is playing on the device.

The steps above were performed on an iPhone 11 in iOS 13.4.1. Note that the “Clock” app that we are using in this guide is the default one that comes with the iPhone. You don’t need to download any third-party apps.

The Clock app on your iPhone lets you do things like set alarms to wake up, use a stopwatch, or see what time it is in other parts of the world.

I have this problem for a few days now and I don’t get what I am doing wrong.

My application is basically just creating some timers. I need to stop them and create new ones. But at the moment stopping them doesn’t work.

Because my timer didn’t want to stop I am currently using the unrepeated timer and start it myself after it stopped.

And that’s how I stop my timer.

I call the stopAlarm() function before creating a new timer.

The usual way to start and stop a timer safely is

startTimer() starts the timer only if it’s nil and stopTimer() stops it only if it’s not nil .

You have only to take care of stopping the timer before creating/starting a new one.

Make sure you’re calling invalidate on the same thread as the timer.

From the documentation:

Special Considerations You must send this message from the thread on which the timer was installed. If you send this message from another thread, the input source associated with the timer may not be removed from its run loop, which could prevent the thread from exiting properly.

Something that’s not really covered by the previous answers is that you should be careful your timer isn’t scheduled multiple times.

If you schedule a timer multiple times without first invalidating it, it’ll end up scheduled on multiple run loops, and invalidating it then becomes nigh impossible.

For me, it happened when calling my scheduleTimer() function in separate functions in my view controller’s life cycle ( viewWillAppear , viewDidAppear , . )

So in short, if you aren’t sure (or you cannot guarantee) your Timer is only scheduled once, just always invalidate it first.

I have tried every possible solution found but not able to resolve that at the end I have set repeat "false" while initialising timer like below

self.timer = Timer.scheduledTimer(timeInterval: 1, target: self, selector: #selector(viewcontroller.methodname), userInfo: nil, repeats: false)

And need to add above line in my selector method for whatever the condition for which I wanted to repeat the time.

For example:- My requirement is I want to repeatedly call some method until one condition satisfied. So instead of adding repeats true I set it false as repeat true does not invalidate timer in my case.

Apple today introduced the first beta of iOS 14.7 to developers, and while this update doesn’t seem to bring any significant changes, it does bring a new feature for HomePod users. With this new version of iOS, users will be able to set timers on the HomePod using the Home app on the iPhone, iPad, and possibly the Mac as well.

When you set a sleep schedule in the iOS Health app or on Apple Watch, you also have the option to set an alarm to wake you up in the morning. Of course, some days you might want to adjust the time it goes off, or you may want to disable it completely for a well earned lie in.

Fortunately, you don’t have to dig into the Health app to do this. The steps below show you how to change your alarm in super-quick time.

  1. Open Control Center on your iPhone: on ‌‌iPhone‌‌ 8 or earlier, swipe up from the bottom of the screen; on ‌‌iPhone‌‌ X and later, swipe down from the upper right of the screen.
  2. Tap the Timer or Stopwatch button.
  3. Tap the Alarm tab at the bottom of the screen.
  4. Tap the Change button next to the alarm you want to adjust.
  5. If you want to change your Sleep Schedule for just the night so that your alarm goes off earlier or later, drag the sleep block around the clock graphic to change your bedtime/wakeup time (you can drag the whole thing from the center to make sure you hit your Sleep Goal, or you can reduce/expand the block of time by dragging the ends). Alternately, scroll down and switch off the toggle next to Wake Up Alarm.

Note that you can also change the alarm’s Sounds & Haptics, volume, and add or remove a Snooze from the same screen.

Q. I am an 84-year-old sedentary person and I need some kind of alarm program that reminds me to get up every hour. I could set the alarm on my iPad/iPod every hour, but that is a pain.

A. The iOS operating system that runs on Apple’s iPhones, iPads and iPod Touch devices includes a Clock app (as well as a Reminders app) that can be set to ring hourly and automatically repeat each day, but it does take some work to set up the alarm system. If you just want a simple hourly beep or chime, start with a visit to the online App Store and search for “hourly chime” or “hourly alarm.”

Many of these apps are free or inexpensive. When browsing for a suitable program, click the Ratings and Reviews link on an app’s description page to see what others have said about it.

Apple’s built-in apps can be set to alert you at specific intervals, and once you set the alarms, you can have them automatically repeat daily. In the Clock app, for example, tap the Alarm button at the bottom and then the plus (+) button in the top-right corner of the screen to add a new alarm. On the next screen, set the desired time, tap the Repeat menu and select all the days you want the alarm to ring. Tap the Save button and then tap the plus button again to set an alarm for the next hour. Repeat the process until you have set an alarm to repeatedly ring for every hour and every day you need prompting.

You can set up similarly regular alerts in the Reminder app by tapping the encircled “i” on a reminder to get to the time and repeat settings. And if you find all that tapping is too much work, hold down the Home button and ask the Siri assistant to set a daily alarm for a specific hour and repeat your request until you have one for all the times you need reminding.

Make sure your Apple Watch is charged before going to bed. You wouldn’t want to arrive late to work or school because of a dead Apple Watch that failed to wake you up. It’s also a good idea to test this method on a weekend, in case you unconsciously dismiss the vibrating alarm and go back to sleep. Personally, I’ve never failed to wake up using this method, but it’s always a good idea to make sure — just in case.

Set a timer to automatically stop music / YouTube videos

Many of us have a habit of listening to music with the iPhone before we fall asleep. However, it often happens that you leave your iPhone playing music all night. Or you may feel annoyed by music while sleeping but you just do not want to move to turn it off because you are sleepy.

On the iPhone, the timer function is available to automatically stop music playback at a time that you have specified. The timer works with the “Music” app and other apps such as YouTube.

Tap Timer

On the Home screen, launch the “Clock” app and tap “Timer” at the bottom right.

You can quickly access the Timer screen by tapping the “Timer” icon in the Control Center.

Set a timer

To set a timer turn the hour and minute wheels up or down until they are at the desired positions. They can be anywhere between 1 minute to 23 hours and 59 minutes.

Tap “When Timer Ends”

Next, tap “When Timer Ends” to set what happens when the countdown timer completes.

Select “Stop Playing”

If you intend to use the timer as a normal alarm clock, in this section, you will choose the alarm ringtone that will let you know when the time is up.

On the other hand, if you want to stop music playback after a set period of time, scroll to the bottom of the screen where you can choose “Stop Playing” Then, tap “Set” to complete the process

Start countdown

When the setting is finished, you will get back to the Timer screen. Tap on the “Start” button that begins countdown.

Now, with the sleep timer, you can enjoy music/videos using the “Music” app or other sound/video apps such as YouTube. It is suggested that you set the iPhone to sleep mode to help in battery life. When the countdown ends, any music/video playing on your iPhone will be automatically stopped.

You can also set a timer by telling Siri to, for example, “set a timer for 20 minutes.” Remember when you use Siri to set a timer, you need to enable “Stop Playing” in the When Timer Ends section before you ask Siri to do so.
