Usually, they tend to run slowly, and most of the times, it has little to do with the game itself. What is the cause of Gaming Lag

In most cases, delay tends to happen in online multiplayer games, and this has much to do with your Internet connection than anything else. Here’s the thing, it takes time for data to travel from your computer to the game you’re playing, and that’s the reason for lag.

Changing your fortunes isn’t always as simple as upgrading your Internet speed to a faster option. Sometimes the problem lies with the location of the multiplayer server. For example, if the affected player is located in India, and the server is situated in America, there might be problems.

How to fix gaming lag

The simplest option here is to move to a different server, preferably one that is close to your location. Furthermore, if there are several network-hogging programs running in the background, just close such background software.

The next step here is to stay away from WiFi. Yes, a wired connection is always much better than a wireless one. So get an Ethernet cord and attach it to the computer, then to the router.

Now then, if you insist on using WiFi, then upgrade your router to one that supports the wireless N standard and QoS controls.

What is the cause of low FPS

The best way to play a video game is at 60 FPS or higher. However, not everyone due to the high cost of the best PC gaming hardware.

When a game is suffering from low FPS, sometimes it has a lot to do with the speed of the processor, or the settings of the game being played are too high.

How do we fix the low frames per second problem

Chances are, you may have to upgrade your processor to a newer model. Most video games are CPU-based, and as such, require quicker performance to hit the 60 FPS ballpark.

There could also be an issue with the video card’s driver. From our experience, AMD is usually the culprit in bad graphics card drivers when compared to NVIDIA. A simple driver upgrade could fix the problem, but it may boil down to how fast the manufacturer releases the update.

Finally, if you’ve tried everything, then how about reducing graphics settings? It’s always possible that your graphics card isn’t powerful enough to run video games correctly, and this will deter good performance. Reducing graphics and resolution can help improve gaming performance, though, after that, the game may not look as crisp.

If we look at Gears of War 4, users will have to enter the “Customization” section on the start screen. From there, go to “Video” and “Video Advanced” to change the overall quality of the output. Similarly, check where these settings are present in your game and do the needful.

Worry not though, because, in the world of PC gaming, performance is always better than pretty graphics.

Change Graphic Control Panel Panel Settings

Here are a few tweaks for both Nvidia and AMD Users that will provide instantly boost your FPS in Dying Light 2:

For Nvidia Users:

  • Open up Nvidia’s Control Panel. Right-click on desktop > click Nvidia control panel
  • Click Manage 3D Settings > Program Settings
  • Find “Dying Light 2”, you can manually add the game if it’s not in the list
  • Now, make the following changes:

Monitor Tech: G-Sync (If available)
Maximum Pre-rendered frames: 2
Threaded optimization: On
Power Management: Prefer Maximum Performance
Texture Filtering – Quality: Performance

For AMD Users

  • Anti-Aliasing Mode: Use Application settings
  • Anti-aliasing Method: Multisampling
  • Morphological Filtering: Off
  • Anisotropic Filtering Mode: Use application settings

  • Surface Format Optimization: On
  • Wait for V-sync: Off

Disable Core-Isolation to Boost FPS on Windows 11

Core Isolation is a new feature built-in Windows 11 that protects your PC from untrusted applications and drivers. The tradeoff is obviously the performance. But this is not going to be an issue for anyone that doesn’t download anything from untrusted sites.

Here’s how you can disable it:

  • Click on Start Menu button and select settings
  • Click Privacy and Security > Windows Security > Device Security
  • Here you will find Core Isolation, click on Core isolation details
  • On the next screen, you will find a radio button for “Memory Integrity”, just turn it off.

You’ve successfully disabled VBS on Windows 11. Many users on Reddit have reported this to significantly improve performance for many games. We’re talking about improvements of about 20-30 fps straightaway.

Enable Game Mode

We’ve noticed huge improvements in the Game Mode in Windows 11. For Windows 10, we suggest disabling both Game mode and game bar, whereas this option should be enabled on Windows 11.

To Enable: Just type game mode in search and enable it.

Screen tearing occurs when your monitor’s refresh rate and GPU’s frame rate are not synchronized. It’s characterized as a horizontal split at one or more places of the image.

You can fix it by enabling VSync, Adaptive VSync, Enhanced Sync, Fast Sync, FreeSync, G-SYNC or Variable Refresh Rate, depending on what your PC system and monitor support.

Although a lot of gamers might not think of having a higher FPS (Frames Per Second) than your monitor’s maximum refresh rate as a big problem, it can cause obvious screen tearing, which can be quite annoying.

Of course, screen tearing can also occur if your frame rate is lower than the refresh rate of your display. In this case, however, the stuttery performance caused by low FPS will certainly bother you more than the occasional tearing.

There are a few different ways to fix screen tearing depending on what features your graphics card and monitor support.

VSync

At first, VSync (Vertical Synchronization) was the only way to eliminate screen tearing.

It synchronizes the vertical refresh rate of your monitor with GPU’s frame rates, but because it makes your graphics card wait until the monitor can display a full frame, you get higher input lag.

So, if you have a 60Hz monitor, and you’re getting 120FPS, enabling VSync will cap your frame rate to 60FPS – you’ll get higher input lag, but no screen tearing.

Without VSync, you’ll get tearing, but the input lag will be lower.

In the end, it comes down to personal preference: what you can tolerate more. In competitive titles, you’ll have to settle for VSync ‘Off’ for the best results.

In more graphically-oriented games, you can use VSync ‘On’ if screen tearing is bothersome to you.

Different gamers will prefer different options. Some don’t notice (or care for) screen tearing and some don’t feel the extra input lag introduced by VSync.

Note that the higher refresh rate, the less noticeable screen tearing will be; that’s why most competitive gamers opt for 240Hz displays and play with VSync disabled.

There’s a trick to reduce the input lag added by VSync, which includes using RTSS (Rivatuner Statistics Server) to limit the in-game frame rate by your monitor’s maximum refresh rate subtracted by 0.01.

To know the exact refresh rate (with 3 decimals) of your monitor, you can use this website.

NVIDIA Adaptive VSync

In case your FPS often dips below your monitor’s maximum refresh rate, but you want to keep screen tearing at bay, VSync is not the best way to go.

For instance, on a 60Hz display with VSync enabled, dropping to 59FPS will cause VSync to essentially half your frame rate to 30FPS in order to keep things synchronized. This will eliminate tearing, but you will experience stutter, which is even worse.

If you have an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 graphics card or newer, you can use Adaptive VSync. This technology allows VSync to be enabled as long as your FPS is equal to or higher than your refresh rate. Once it drops below the refresh rate, Adaptive VSync will turn off VSync thus replacing stuttering with slight tearing until your FPS recovers.

NVIDIA Fast Sync & AMD Enhanced Sync

NVIDIA’s G-SYNC and AMD’s FreeSync technologies allow the monitor to change its refresh rate dynamically, according to GPU’s frame rates, as long as your FPS is within the monitor’s supported variable refresh rate (VRR) range.

So, if you’re getting 65FPS on a 144Hz gaming monitor that supports VRR with a 48-144Hz range, the monitor will dynamically change its refresh rate to 65Hz thus eliminating screen tearing and stuttering at imperceptible input lag penalty (

G-SYNC can only be used with NVIDIA cards on monitors that feature dedicated G-SYNC modules, while FreeSync is supported by both AMD and NVIDIA (GTX 10-series or newer, via the ‘G-SYNC Compatible’ mode using DisplayPort) cards.

Some newer G-SYNC monitors also support Adaptive-Sync (protocol which FreeSync is based on) in order to provide VRR for AMD graphics cards, too.

Note that FreeSync/G-SYNC only works up to the monitor’s maximum refresh rate.

So, you can either use it in combination with Enhanced Sync/Fast Sync or limit your FPS to a few frames below your monitor’s maximum refresh rate in order to completely remove tearing.

Compatible devices and displays with HDMI 2.1 can also eliminate screen tearing via HDMI 2.1 Forum VRR, as long as the technology is implemented on the HDMI interface.

First off, general steps to take for a possible fix to the low fps and performance issues in Elden Ring is to download the latest NVIDIA or Radeon drivers, depending on your GPU type.

  • Ensure your video drivers are up to date.
  • Verify integrity of game files on Steam.

According to early reports, the fps drops in Elden Ring occur mostly in the overworld and not in dungeons. There’s also a chance that on PC, fps drops and poor performance might be related to the game’s Easy Anti-Cheat system.

I get low FPS on far cry 4 and sometimes other games. I asked online for help but I got no response that helped me.
I just ordered an SSD which might help me and all my driver are up to date.

It could be that processor, it’s ancient – most GTX780’s are also faster than the Titan at HD resolutions of 1080 and 1440p

What FPS are you actually getting by the way? I get 60 most of the time on very high settings and an average of 40-45 on Ultra with a 3570K @ 4.2GHz and 780 Superclocked

You cant do anything against as to wait for Patches and Driver, the Performance is good but not the best but the lag or skip issue what mostly happen when driving, flying or running isnt caused and can be called a Performance issue. Nvidia, Amd, Crossfire and SLI setups get this high drops some more some less, its a technical issue what need to be fixed.

For low Fps you should start to Overlclock your CPU quite a bit, 2,8 Ghz with a Titan is highly bottlenecking the GPU, its way to low.

Also set the FarCry4.exe on high priority on the task manager.

Ambient Occlusion: SSBC looks better IMHO, and will save you two, or three frames.

Godrays: NVIDIA Godrays vs. Volumetric Fog is personal preference, they both have about the same demand.

Shadows: Soft shadows actually perform better then ultra, and look better IMHO.

Anti-Aliasing: Pretty standard. Most demanding is TXAA, next is MSAA, and SMAA is the least. O/C you can turn off and use the hardware anti-aliasing/FXAA out of Nvidia control panel with even less demand then SMAA.

Fur: Appearently this will saves you like 5 FPS with it off(Can’t imagine why this is so demanding for what it actually does). I have this off because it seems like a lot of frames for something I just don’t care that much about.

Environment Quality: Environment Quality has little effect on frame rate, may as well keep it at ultra.

Geometry Quality: This effects popins, so IMHO you should keep at ultra, but each perset lower appearently adds two, or three frames.

Post FX Quality: Bunch of stuff which they don’t tell you about. why no description Ubisoft? I just turned it off personally because I have no idea what it does lol.

Terrain Quality: Effects a ton of stuff, and will cause popins if to low, keep at ultra IMHO.

Texture Quality: There is a difference between ultra and low in looks, but doesn’t seem to effect FPS at all unless you don’t meet VRAM. If you are on a low VRAM card, this should be the first thing you drop. Even if you just need more VRAM for something like TXAA/MSAA, it is probably a good trade.

Trees Relief: is tessellation for tree bark. Worth about three FPS

Vegetation Quality: Is vegetation quality lol? Considering how much you hide in bushes and how little it impacts FPS, I feel it is worth keeping at ultra.

Water Quality: Water doesn’t look that great in the game regardless, and when I turned it down I saw no FPS improvment, so I just kept at max.

Also, big thing is in your Nvidea control panel you should go to "power management mode" and prefer maximum performance, and set your "maximum pre rendered frames" to 3.

Hello all! I have recently installed Windows 11, after installing it, my games perform horribly. I get stutters and lag spikes way too often, I’ve followed almost every guide and video there is and the issue still persists. I have the latest NVIDIA GeForce drivers for my GPU, and all other drivers are updated. The issue didn’t exist until I installed Windows 11. Any help? Thanks in advance.

1) Try these fixes for game stutter and lag in Windows 11:

2) The Display driver is so important here that merely updating it is sometimes not enough. So let’s try everything possible to get it working correctly:

First make sure you have updated the Display driver from the PC or Display adapter maker’s Support Downloads web page for your exact model number, HP Serial Number or Dell Service Tag – from the sticker on the PC.

While there check also for newer chipset, BIOS/UEFI firmware (very important), network, sound, USB3 and other drivers, comparing to the ones presently installed in Device Manager reached by right clicking the Start Menu.

Remove the old driver using DDU https://www.wagnardsoft.com/content/ddu-guide-t. if necessary installing in Safe Mode with Networking (so you have internet), or Safe Mode, accessed by one of these methods: https://www.digitalcitizen.life/4-ways-boot-saf. If this doesn’t give you the latest or ideal driver for what you need, compare it to the driver offered by the Intel driver update Utility here:

For Display issues one fix that is working is to Roll back or Uninstall the Driver on the Display Device > Driver tab, restart PC to reinstall driver.

You can also try older drivers in Device Manager > Display device > Driver tab > Update Driver > Browse > Let Me Pick.

Then you will know you’ve tried everything in addition to Windows Update drivers.

Adjust the screen resolution until it fits and looks best at Settings > System > Display.

4) If that doesn’t fix it then you can do a Windows 11 Repair Upgrade which reinstalls Windows while saving your files and apps in place, brings it up to the latest version by the most stable method, takes about an hour and resolves most problems: https://www.elevenforum.com/t/repair-install-wi.

These flaws are especially apparent in the PC build of the game. Early on, fans have experienced FPS drops, stuttering and more poor performance on PC in Elden Ring. Luckily, there are some out-of-game ways to ensure your PC can run the game smoothly and prevent lag.

We’ve gone over the best graphics settings for Elden Ring already, which strictly apply to the in-game graphical values. This didn’t cover anything you can do to your PC while not in the game, though. Below, you can find a few fixes that could have a significant impact on your game performance when it comes to running Elden Ring on PC.

Fixing FPS drops and stuttering in Elden Ring

These fixes come from a Reddit post, where thousands of Elden Ring fans chimed in with ways they’ve gotten around the game’s performance issues. So far, there appear to be three or four main fixes that you can apply to your PC to make the game run much smoother. In our own experience, these changes allowed us to run Elden Ring at 1440p, 60 FPS with almost no frame drops or stuttering. There were some dips in FPS around the Tree Sentinel and other open-world boss fights but not much else.

The changes you can do are listed below:

  1. Go to your Windows search bar and type in “Graphics settings.” Scroll down until you see “Browse,” which you can click. Search for the Elden Ring.exe file on your PC. Select it and right-click on its name under “Browse.” Pick the option that says “High Performance.”
  2. Do the same process for the Steam application on your PC.
  3. Go into Nvidia Control Panel and click on “Manage 3D Settings” from the left-hand menu. Make sure you’re in the Global Settings menu. Scroll down until you see “Shader Cache Size.” Click on the box across from that, it should say Driver Default, and select “Unlimited.”
  4. Bring up Device Manager in Windows by searching for it in the Windows search bar. Go to Software Devices and press it. Right-click on “Microsoft Device Association Root Enumerator” and choose to Disable it.

Game running slow? Jerky? It could be your frames-per-second (FPS). This guide will attempt to help you, the player, discover methods for improving your FPS. First and foremost, you must know where you are starting from, a base point to determine if any changes improve your FPS or make it worse.

How to show your current FPS

The second method is to have your Rust client show your FPS.

After starting the Rust client, select F1 and go to the console screen.

Type “perf 1” (without the quotes) and hit ENTER.

Once you connect to a server, your FPS will be shown in the lower left corner, in a large white font. This is only for Rust and will not be shown for other games.

Causes of poor FPS.

There can be many overlapping causes for poor FPS, but hardware is the number one cause for low FPS. Upgrading your CPU, memory size or Graphics processor can have a MAJOR impact on your FPS and overall game play. If you can afford to go better, do so. If not, let us look at what can be done.

Getting Started

Start by closing other programs on your machine (a fresh reboot is never a bad idea). Next, set the game graphics settings to mid-range values. To make changes press the ESC key. Do this the first time before joining a server. Then select the options tab (looks like a gear). Here you will find five tabs labelled OPTIONS, GRAPHICS, INPUT, AUDIO and PERFORMANCE.

Three of these tabs, OPTIONS, INPUT and AUDIO, are mostly personal preferences. These settings have negligible effect on FPS. So let’s go over the important tabs, their options and suggested starting points. Change your settings to the low settings shown in parentheses after each item.

Now you can join a server. Start with a no-pop or low-pop server. Build a small building and get inside. Do this so that you will be safe when you are in the menu making changes. But, realize this is Rust, and anything can happen.

It is recommended that you only make one change at a time. Then go play for a few minutes and see how the change affects your FPS and game play. Obviously if the change causes your FPS to drop dramatically, change it back. Many of these options are sliders, so if increasing something causes issues, try decreasing. Always try small increments at first.

This guide cannot cover every possible issue or every possible solution. Each computer, and its associated hardware and software create unique systems. Rust is still in active development and optimization is an ongoing process. Here’s the good news: This is only temporary. Once enough features are in and more things become finalized, they will put more focus on optimization and this puppy should run smooth as gravy (or something like that).

More things to try

First and foremost make sure everything is updated, both Windows side and driver side.

Make sure you are using a 64-bit version of Windows 7 or newer.

Make sure you are using your dedicated GPU, not an integrated GPU.

Using under 8GB of ram is NOT recommended.

Check your drivers manually to make sure they are updated, you can’t always rely on an automatic system to update.

Check your temperatures, high temperatures may lead the thermal throttling.

Close background applications that you aren’t using.

Even if you are on a desktop make sure Windows power settings are set to “high performance”.

Use task manager to measure RAM usage in game, as other programs outside of rust can cause memory leaks, even things like network driver applications and the like can cause them.

Use “perf 2” in console to see accurate fps and memory usage in game (memory usage is only for the assets loaded for that game instance, rust uses memory for bootstrapping and the like, but in game is where the leaks occur).

Change your graphics settings in game as apposed to just from the dropdown menu as it gives more options and tends to be more reliable (you can use console commands as well to change them, which I will cover further in the list).

Ensure all your hardware is compatible and actually works.

Try running rust in a lower resolution using the drop down menu.

Use the “fps.limit 0” without quotes to remove unintentional FPS limits.

Use ‘dev.netgraph 1″ in console to see your bandwith usage and packet loss percentage (use “dev.netgraph 0” to turn off the overlay).

If you are having network lag make sure you aren’t still populating the server lists in the background.

Use the command “global.timewarnings true” to have the console print any warnings related to loading times and the like in console.

Use the command “net.log true” to enable your client to save a network info log file in your game directory.

Turn down your animation quality and other settings (type “find animation” in console to see a list of animation variables).

Type “find graphics” in console to see all graphics variables and what they are set to, to verify changes were saved, or there isn’t an unlisted graphics option you want to change.

Type “find terrain” and “find audio” to see all terrain variables and audio options.

Save any console command changes to your config using “writecfg” in console (saves the vast majority of changes but some things won’t be saved, mainly overlay stuff like perf 2)

If you are stuck at receiving data for a long time, or some items are glitched out on your character, have a friend or admin kill your sleeper with all the glitched out items on it to fix the problem (usually fixes it anyway).

    After much anticipation, “The Witch Queen” update has finally arrived in Destiny 2. The update has brought a ton of content. Which includes a brand-new location, a ton of new weapons, a brand-new raid, and many more. It is safe to say, it is going to be a busy week for Destiny 2 players.

    This article mainly focuses on the performance of Destiny 2 on PC, so if you are a console player, then unfortunately we don’t have anything for you here. Destiny 2 has always been brilliantly optimized, for the most part. In fact, this is one of the most optimized titles that I have ever played. There is no doubt that the new update is great. But it has brought some technical issues along with it, as well. That is why I decided to revisit this Destiny 2 performance guide in 2022.

    I have been noticing few performance issues in-game. Though the game never crashed for me, but I noticed the frame rates have significantly dropped for me and this was more noticeable in Crucible where even a single fps drop could cause you to lose a fight.

    That is when I decided to install Destiny 2 on my old and trusty medium end gaming PC that is rocking an Nvidia GTX 1050 ti, Intel i3 8100, 16 GB of DDR4 RAM and a standard 7200 RPM 1 TB hard drive. I had already played Destiny 2 on this PC on high to maximum settings, and I remember easily getting 60-70 fps on all maps. But this time I noticed something different. With Anti-aliasing set to SMAA and Screen Space Ambient Occlusion set to HDAO I was hardly getting 50 fps. Crucible almost seemed like a nightmare. So I went ahead and checked the forums and saw that a lot of players have been complaining about the performance of Destiny 2 lately. Lag, fps drops, insanely low fps, crashes, random freezing, everything was there.

    Restart the game, or reinstall it

    As simple as it sounds, restarting your game or even your computer can sometimes fix lag.

    Existing processes running in the background could be slowing your computer down, so turning everything off and restarting might lead to better performance in-game. If that fails, try uninstalling and reinstalling VALORANT. If a file has been corrupted, a patch hasn’t properly loaded, or something else entirely, reinstalling could be the answer to your problems.

    Check Riot’s server status

    Sometimes it’s difficult to determine whether the issue is on your end or on Riot’s. If there’s a server issue, you may experience lag or frame drops. To check if the servers are acting up or there’s been a recent outage, you can check Riot’s official Service Status page or head over to Twitter.

    You could also alternatively read through Riot’s support page for any outstanding issues. This will give you a rundown of any error messages or problems you could be facing.

    Hello, I’ve had this computer for a while, and I’m really tired of always experiencing lag under 50fps, it pisses me off. Everything is smooth as butter but the second it takes more than 20ms for every frame (under 50fps) I experience lag, which feels like I’m playing at 20 fps or something. It only happens on this computer, I’ve tried running games on my older laptop and 30 fps looks amazing compared to 45 fps on this computer. Stuttering, mouse lag (sometimes), choppiness, it all happens the second I hit 49fps. I just can’t explain it. I have switched screens, which didn’t work, played with some settings in Nvidia control panel, etc. Before I used to have a HD 5970 which ran like crap already from terrible drivers, and this issue forced me to get a new card (now a GTX 580), it is much better than before, don’t get me wrong, but I still have that unbearable lag. Any help appreciated.

    Higher refresh rate monitor won’t fix the issue of your fps being unregulated and shifting up and down. Like Hexit was telling you, if you wanted to sacrifice peak fps for steady fps, you could limit your max fps using a framerate limiter, and cap it somewhere below your lowest dip (30 fps for instance). You’d be gaming steadily at the same framerate and could get used to looking at it and playing with it, and you wouldn’t feel the "jerkiness" in the game so to speak. It still won’t look as nice as 60 fps though.

    Also, using console as a comparison to your PC gaming experience is a bad habit. A lot of console games are built around running at 25 and 30 fps (depending if you’re PAL or NTSC) and they use a lot of blurring and partial image overlay techniques to hide that fact and make the game look smoother. The tradeoff is that the actual image fidelity in these cases, sucks. You’ll notice stuttering and texture popping and all of those nasty phenomenon more on a 1080 monitor with games designed to run at 60 fps because A. you’re sitting closer to it than you would be to a television that you’d play an xbox on for instance, and B. because the image fidelity is better so you can actually see the flaws better.

    its a long story but divinity ii seems to suffer from the same cause
    i think it haves to do with engine having only a main tread witch gets saturated by secondary small treads and needs some time to desaturate and sync all the things in parallel so to speak and thus doing alone all the hard work and needing some time to time to desaturate

    so limiting via nvidia gpu is a way that seems to get the job done

    I would check your memory first, If you can increase it.

    You also may not have enough free space on your HD. Use the HD tools Windows has to clean things up.

    Actually they need a whole new Rig. This is designed for novice gamers, with modest gaming capabilities. But, yes get the background processes & programs down to free memory. I always run a gaming rig with a stripped down operating system to free up resources. However, this does have 2 graphic processors: An Intel 4600 and the Nvidia GeForce GTX 860M GPU with 2GB of VRAM. It could just be a setting in the operating system or graphics driver software not kicking in the Nvidia.

    So for a person who doesn’t play too many games, what would be a good way to get better performance out of the computer without breaking the bank?

    Cam, If you have a HDD how about upgrading to a SSD if you’ve already upgraded the RAM to the max.

    Problems that plague gaming laptops include overheating, programs running in the background, and the graphics card not running at the required speed (usually in MHz) for the game you are playing.

    In order to avoid overheating problems, you may want to replace the fan(s) with better performing ones or give your laptop a rest and let it cool down.

    In order to prevent programs from starting up while you are playing a game, manually go into the program (settings) and either turn off the program or schedule it to run while you aren’t gaming.

    In order to see if your graphics card is causing lag, look at the game requirements on the original packaging. Compare to the one running in your laptop. If the graphics card you have doesn’t perform at the recommended capacity then you may need a better graphics card.

    Turn off built-in VSync. It seem like their VSync was designed for 30fps on consoles, so when it tries to sync higher end systems it screws up everything. This leads to jittery movement and harsh frame dips. Heres how to do it:

    Go to documents/my games/fallout4/, in Fallout4Prefs.ini and Fallout4.ini change iPresentInterval=1 to 0, if it is not there add the line and set it to 0.

    NOTE: You still need to cap it, going over 60 can cause issues like being stuck in terminals or superfast lockpicking

    So now force vsync in the nvidia/amd control panel instead to avoid issues going over 60fps. I believe you can also use dxtory to limit your fps to 60.

    2) Turn god rays to low. They still look pretty much the same, but for some reason ultra can kill your fps.

    I was dippin to high 40s with my gtx 980ti, but when I switched my v sync settings to "adaptive", it fixed all my problems. Didn't have to lower settings or anything. Thanks for the suggestion /u/-CerN-

    Where are the settings for "adaptive" v-sync? The game's settings? The nvidia control panel settings? I can't find this. I have disabled vsync in-game and enabled it in the nvidia control panel and I get around 55-60FPS on very-high/ultra (Except god rays to low) on a GTX970M, although sometimes it dips into the low 40s in very broad open spaces and while it's not a big deal, it is noticeable. If I can solve this without lowering the graphics more, it'd be great (although I doubt it'll help).

    Do you still have to set iPresentInterval=0 for this to work or is adaptive vsync alone enough?

    I'm gaming on a g-sync monitor and i haven't been having FPS issues as such, it goes just below 60 FPS on a mixture of ultra and high settings on a 780Ti at 1440p and as high as 120, but one thing i have suffered from is stutter.

    It happens even when my FPS is high, in the hundreds. I tried the fix you suggested anyway to see if it gave me extra FPS or helped the stutter, didn't seem to make a difference, maybe because i'm using a g-sync monitor, anyone else seeing these issues? using the iPresetInterval=0 fix doesn't seem to do anything either. Do we need to wait for the usual stutter fix mod?

    Switching v sync to adaptive does not make your frames higher one bit, that's not how it works. Do you know what an FPS is?

    I Recently bought a brand new Asus Tuf Dash F15 with 11th gen i7 11370h, RTX 3060, 16gb ram 3200hz and 1080p 144hz display.

    I’ve been testing it for a few days and find out that it has a terrible FPS while gaming when I’m using the dedicated nVidia GPU. Games like League of Legends, Valorant, CSGO, can’t hold 144 fps and drops down to around 100 fps, and it’s very noticeable while game sesions, even worse with the First Person Shooter games. It’s pretty funny that those are not very demanding game and the RTX 3060 can barely hold a decent FPS.

    The funny part of this is that, no matter which graphics settings I set (LOW, MEDIUM or HIGH, or 720p or 1080p resolution), it does 144 fps for a little while then the FPS drops.

    My previous laptop (XPG XENIA) did a pretty solid 144 fps with only 2 or 3 frames drops (in some few situations) with a 9th gen i7, 144hz panel and a GTX 1660ti with the same games and same game’s graphic settings, but it could do a solid 144fps.

    – I always use a fanless laptop cooling pad , those that do not interfere laptop fans and elevate the laptop over the surface.
    – Windows, drivers, bios and ARMOURY CRATE app are up to date (i’m checking everyday if there are new updates)
    -Armoury Crate is set to Turbo mode with iGPU disabled. Also tried with Performance Mode.
    – nVidia RTX 3060 is set as primary Graphic Card in nVidia settings
    – AC is connected all time.
    – Temps is always around 70-75� celcius

    I noticed that Armoury Crate app shows the GPU never hits 100% of usage (around 60 – 70%) and the CPU is at 100% but it doesn’t go any further than 4400hz (Asus claims that the i7 11370H can do 4,8ghz).

    Testing in more demanding game like Horizon Zero dawn, My previous laptop could do 55 – 59FPS in Ultra settings and with this laptop is barely doing above 45fps.

    i’m pretty concern why a GTX 1660ti and a 9th gen Intel i7 do a better performance than 11th gen Intel i7 wih a RTX 3060? This laptop has two generation newer hardware and it performs worse.
    Is there something that i’m missing to check?

    Before New World was even released, the game was plagued by stories from RTX 3090 owners burning their shiny new GPUs out while playing the Amazon Games’ entry so there’s no surprise that there have been a few performance issues after launch.
